Inspired by Mark Rothko and the Colour Field style of abstract expressionism, I wanted to explore the relationship between colour and how we experience it in our everyday lives by stripping away the context in which it typically appears. To achieve this, I took a drive with my mom through the Manitoba countryside with my Canon A1 and a roll of Portra 400, capturing the essence of the vast fields and skies with long-exposure photography. Through movement, I distilled the colours characteristic of prairie landscapes, allowing them to stand on their own, unbound by their usual state.
